Exhibit Design and Media: Local Projects
Fabricator: Studio Joseph
New York City, NY (2017)
Located on 5th Avenue at the top of museum mile, MCNY underwent a complete modernization of their exhibits. On the ground floor, “NY at its Core” explores the past, present and future of the city.
Located in the “Future” section there are multiple small interactive stations allowing the visitor to virtually “develop” a bit of land. The final designs are then presented on this large video wall and scored for impact on the environment, economic factors and esthetics.
A curved 30 monitor video wall displays a map of the area on the horizontal section with key data on the curves and images on the upper section. Overnight, the system re-renders the files with information from live data feeds so the exhibit is always up to date. This particular exhibit had an unforeseen difficulty. The displays required more cooling than was included in the original fabrication design and midway through the project, this was added to our scope. We designed and installed a cooling system underneath the 30 displays.
